Solid foods should not be disposed of in the garbage disposal. Primarily “liquidy” items such as soups, cereals, and other such foods that are not easily disposed of in your garbage can, should go in the disposal. Limiting the types of materials
put in the disposal will prevent clogs and break downs later on.
Don’t pour grease down your sinks. The grease hardens in the piping and causes clogs down in the lines. Place your grease in a container or can to harden, and then you can simply throw it away.
Occasionally run ice through your garbage disposal to minimize bacteria, odor, and to keep your blades sharp.
